Pinball Wizard

As Daltrey says, "when someone praises Jimi Hendrix and how he played the guitar in Monterey, I always have to stand up and remind them that The Who had already used distortion before." I don't think anybody must defend them, cause their records speak for themselves. Any fan who worth his salt knows the truth.

As most of us, the first song I heard by The Who was My Generation. But then, I began researching about them, wanting to know more about their career and their songs. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I listened to Tommy, watched Quadrophenia, read interviews and I started to really admire them. The mod attitude is spellbinding and the rock opera must be the best music genre ever.

Pete Townshend's lyrics, Roger Daltrey's voice, John Entwistle's pose and Keith Moon's drumming. They are charming. Well, charming is not the best adjective for a rock band. Let's say they are incredible, innovative and unique. They aren't just a band. They are a British icon, the stamp of a generation, the mod parents.

Here's my favourite song: Pinball Wizard, live at the Isle Of Wight Festival, in the UK in 1970.

Quadrophenia:

Jimmy, the main character of Quadrophenia, became a mod idol and a role model for a whole generation. His clothes and attitude inspire loads of young people.

Obviously, today sounds The Who's greatest hit, My Generation. You can listen to it here.

Lonely Boy

If I could wish just one thing, I would definitely wish going to Coachella. Because Coachella isn't only the best music festival ever, it's a lot more. It's a must for every Californian girl, you can show your style, spot the most stylish people in this planet and have any kind of amusement you can imagine. Boday painting, fire, tattoos, dance, boho hats, feathers, friends, excitement. Everything. That is the reason why, at least once, I must go there and have the time of my life.

Check out one of Coachella 2012 highlight artists, The Black Keys. You can listen to their hit Lonely Boy here. Or if you rather listen to it live at Coachella enter here.

Happy Friday and I hope you enjoy the weekend!

Touching

Cupcakes, aka fairy cakes, are small individual cakes, similars to muffins but with a delicious topping. They were mentioned for the first time in American Cookery by Amelia Simmons, the year 1796. Since then, cupcakes have become a very popular cake, eaten by the girls of Sex and the City and nowadays celebrities, such as Emma Watson, Katy Perry, Katherine Heigl and, in summary, everyone who appreciates their super sweet taste. Sometimes, I like to bake some cupcakes, so here's the result of my last ones.

Today, we listen to Touching by Kakkamaddafakka, you can found it here. It's a great song and it cheers you up in a second!

Dear Prudence

Today I want to share with you a list of my favourite films ever. I have seen them like thousands of times and I never get tired of them. For me cinema it's a big thing. It can make you live other lifes, see the world from a different point of view or even help you to solve your daily problems. Yes, cinema means a lot and it can affect you, change you. If you finish watching a feel as you started, that's not a good film. So let me bring you aboard a wonderful boat, we can sail through different sorts of stories and feel.

In no particular order:

1. Across the universe, a hippie fantasy set during the 60s and 70s. It mixes love, ideals, morality and philosophy, all surrounded by The Beatles' music. I love how everything is full of references and memorable quotes. Fall in love with Jude and Lucy, and notice the magic spoon brought by Bono, singing I'm the Walrus. I'm sure you won't miss any of the epic songs of this legendary band!

2. Into the wild. Please note - do not watch this film during existential crisis or you will be tempted to run away to the nature and never come back. I cannot say anything about this film. It's just perfect, it really changes you, you wish you were Christopher McCandless. It's really worth watching, it should be in every Bucket List.

3. Pearl Harbor. War, love, tragedy, friendship, honor, life. Pearl Harbor it's about all of that, and a lot more. The fact that it involves the famous Pearl Harbor attack gives the film more realism. Your eyes will begin to water from the first minute, then you will cry. Moreover, seeing Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett shirtless is always interesting.

4. Juno. The perfect indie comedy. Ellen Page became a big inspiration for me after this film. It manages the topic of teen pregnancy in a very novel way. Realistic and moving, but especially really funny. At some moments you wonder how they can mix so well hilarious quotes with the deep feeling that they truly hide. Make sure you watch it while eating ice-cream or junk food.

5. Midnight in Paris. I consider this film a master piece. Everything is made carefully to make you travel back in time to the Roaring Twenties. An ode to the bohemian, every boho will picture himself as Gil. I was impressed on how well Woody Allen gets across his message, but at the same time creates such an enjoyable romantic comedy that involves famous artists and writters, such as Dalí, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Picasso, Matisse, Buñuel. Not in vain it won the Best Script Oscar. Just lovely.

6. Pulp Fiction. I won't say anything about this film, it's just unnecessary. Just watch it, please.

Last but not least, today's song is I don't wanna pray, by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, an American Band of indie rock and neo-psychedelia led by Alex Ebert. They really impressed me when I discovered them, and I recommend you to listen to their full album Here. For the time being, you can listen to I don't wanna pray here.

Antidotes

Anyone who thinks that knows something about fashion must follow MAFFASHION, a blog which is in the top ten of the fashion blogs. Juliett Kucynska runs it, and she is simply awesome. She is beautiful, stylish and a trendsetter. The way she dresses, the way she lives, her eyes, her hair... Everything about her is just charming.

She is the most inspiring girl for me, like a modern it girl. She is not a Victoria angel, she is not a cheerleader, she is the kind of girl your parents don't want you to meet. A rebel behind a pretty blond hair. Juliett is so down to earth and confident, and can look gorgeous either in jeans and a jumper or in a designer dress. She can wear either vertigo high-heels or sneakers. Multifaceted and talented, she is a blogger and a muse. She colaborates with a lot of brands, like Black Milk, Mango, H&M or Sanoflore. You can usually spot her in magazines like KMAG.

You can follow her in Facebook, bloglovin, her Youtube channel, Lookbook dot nu and Instagram (@maffashion_official).

It's impossible to choose among her photos, because they are all stunning. But I have chosen some of them to urge you to look for more.

Suorce: MAFFASHION.

Tonight we listen to Foals. They are a rock band from Oxford. I discovered them through Skins' soundtrack, their debut album was released on March, 2008. Its title is Antidotes and I love all the songs in them, it's so relaxing, the perfect background to prim oneself up. You can listen the full album here. My favourite song in it is Hummer (47:39).
